Why does Economics remain difficult for civil services aspirants?

Aspirants of civil services exmainations, coming from diverse academic backgrounds have one general complain- that economics is among the most difficult segments of their General Studies papers- in the civil services examination (CSE) conducted by either the Union Public Services Commission or the state civil services commissions.

My students have never such a complain! Economics and Indian Economy is taught here with such an ease and clarity that the disciline becomes easier for even those who have never read economics!
